Welcome to our new home in Cincinnati, OH
Founded in 2013, Notagraphia LLC is the new US-based company that is a decendent of New Notations Computer Services Ltd. It was founded in 1999 by the American composer Stephen Ferre and was based in the UK. Formerly part of New Notations (founded in 1988), we have retained the New Notations brand name for our computer systems and have taken over the support of those systems built by New Notations beginning in 1998.
Stephen Ferre joined New Notations in 1992 as a music typesetter and became a partner to Stephen Gibson in 1995. In addition to his engraving skills he brought a comprehensive knowledge of Finale and a broad-base computer hardware background. Though New Notations had sold both computer hardware and music software before 1995, this was primarily limited to Score workstations. From 1995 to 1998 the software product line grew until we (by request or our customers) began to assemble complete workstations for music applications, resulting in the birth of the New Notations branded computers. By mid-1999 the software and hardware business was growing so rapidly that it was becoming clear that some re-organization was necessary. It was therefore agreed to split the business between the two partners, adapting the company names to reflect the focus of the business. New Notations London retained the old mostly engraving model while NNCS became more focused on the computer services side..
